1 What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are widely used to make sites work efficiently and to provide reporting information to site owners. Cookies are not programs — they cannot carry viruses or install malware.

URL Zone also uses localStorage (a browser storage mechanism) to remember your cookie consent preference. This does not transmit data to any server and expires after 365 days.

2 Cookies we set

The table below lists every cookie and storage item set by URL Zone, its category, purpose, and how long it persists.

Essential cookies — always active, no consent required

Name Category Purpose Expiry
URLZONE.Auth Essential Authentication session — identifies you after login so you stay signed in across page loads. 7 days (sliding)
.AspNetCore.Antiforgery.* Essential CSRF protection token — validates that form submissions originate from URL Zone and not a third-party site. Session
.AspNetCore.Session Essential Server-side session identifier — maintains temporary state required during multi-step operations. Session
.AspNetCore.Identity.External Essential Temporary cookie set only during Google Sign-In to carry OAuth state from Google back to URL Zone. Deleted immediately after sign-in completes. ~15 minutes
.AspNetCore.Correlation.* Essential OAuth CSRF protection — prevents attackers from hijacking the Google sign-in callback. ~15 minutes

Analytics cookies — only set after you accept

Name Category Purpose Expiry
_ga Analytics Google Analytics — distinguishes unique visitors. Used to count how many people visit the site and which pages they view. 2 years
_ga_* Analytics Google Analytics 4 — stores session-level state for measuring engagement metrics. 2 years
_gtm, _gcl_* Analytics Google Tag Manager container — used to manage and fire analytics measurement tags. Only activates after consent is granted. Varies per tag

Browser storage (not cookies)

Key Type Purpose Expiry
uz_cookie_consent Preference Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted or rejected). Never sent to our servers. Used only to remember whether to show the consent banner again. 365 days
URL Zone uses Google Tag Manager Consent Mode v2. All analytics storage defaults to denied on every page load. Analytics cookies are only activated if you click Accept analytics in the consent banner. Choosing Essential only means no analytics cookies are ever set during that visit.
3 Third-party services

URL Zone uses the following third-party services that may set cookies or access device storage:

Service Purpose Consent required? Privacy policy
Google Tag Manager Manages analytics measurement tags Yes — analytics only Google Privacy Policy
Google Analytics 4 Aggregate page-view and usage statistics Yes Google Privacy Policy
Google OAuth (Sign-In) Authentication only — no tracking No (essential auth) Google Privacy Policy
Google Fonts Serves web fonts — Google may log the request No (no cookie set) Google Privacy Policy
4 Your choices

You have full control over analytics cookies. You can change your preference at any time using the button below — your choice will be remembered for 365 days.

Manage My Cookie Preferences

You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Essential cookies cannot be rejected. Disabling them through browser settings will prevent login, form submission, and other core service features from working correctly.
